GARY ANDERSON thanked SPECSAVERS for keeping his sights on a first-ever Grand Slam title.
The Flying Scotsman is edging closer to winning his favourite tournament, although he faces record-breaking Luke Littler in Sunday’s mouthwatering semi-final.
And Ando, 53, admitted he needed an emergency visit to the opticians earlier in the tournament after exclusively revealing to SunSport he couldn’t see the treble 20!
On whether he’d gone to Specsavers, he said: “I did and I could see that treble great and it’s made it all the worse.
“I think I played better when I couldn’t see it!
“Down this morning, quick tweak and they are bang on now.
“I went in (to Specsavers) and they were sitting too high. I was looking through the varifocals. Now they have dropped them, twisted them a wee bit and looks alright.
“After what I paid for the glasses I expect a few free sets of glasses!
“I just stuck them on when I got the new ones last Thursday. It just wasn’t right. But I played well, I should have kept them!”
Anderson made light work of Stephen Bunting on Thursday night but had to graft hard to get past Dutchman Gian van Veen 16-14 two nights later.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Littler notched the biggest quarter-final win ever in the tournament, destroying Jermaine Wattimena 16-2.
But Anderson reckons so many top new players are coming through.
He said: “There’s so many coming through nowadays. There’s going to be a big change in the rankings very shortly.
“I’ve never seen so many 110-plus averages in one tournament. It’s been 110, 107, 114. It’s getting a bit crazy.
“These young boys they play darts 24/7, they are always on the board. Best of 31 legs for them is not a problem.”
