Who is Sophie Hahn?

Born on January 23, 1997, Sophie Hahn is a parasport athlete who competes mainly in T38 sprint events.

She has been the world record holder in this sport since 2017.

The athlete, who was born with cerebral palsy, began her sports career at the age of 15.

Inspired by the London 2012 Paralympic Games, her older brother encouraged her to seek an athletics club.

Just four years later she scooped gold at Rio 2016 in the T38 100m, and silver in the 4x100m relay.

Hahn retained her title in Tokyo 2020 and won gold again.

At the same time she also equalled her own world record in the process.

The athlete suffered a setback at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after she lost out to GB team-mate Olivia Breen in her first major competition 100m final defeat since 2014.

The 2023 Worlds in Paris were another tough experience for Hahn after she took home bronze in both the 100m and 200m.

However, things have quickly turned back around for the sprinter who wowed at the London Diamond League meeting in July 2024.

She clocked up a time of 12.55 seconds, which is the fastest time in the world so far in 2024.
