The Red Devils came close to taking the lead but a second-half strike from Alejandro Garnacho was ruled out following a freak incident.

Bruno Fernandes had crossed the ball into the winger at the back post, who looked to place his shot into the bottom-right corner.

However, new boy Joshua Zirkzee slid in and made contact on the line meaning it was offside.

The incident occurred just minutes after Amad Diallo equalised for United.
