George Russell BEATS Lewis Hamilton in F1 Belgian Grand Prix after dramatic late battle with incredible strategy

And after just three laps the Brit, who recently celebrated getting back on the top step of the podium at Silverstone, overtook his future Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc to fly into the race lead.

The wet Saturday qualifying session gave way to a dry track at Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday, making the session all about tyre management and pit strategy.

Mercedes gambled on George Russell being able to nurse his tyres home by putting him on a brave one-stop strategy, while they pit Hamilton twice to ensure he kept strong pace.
