With most expecting a cross, the City midfielder decided to take a shot.

Silva whipped his free-kick towards the near post and beyond the Ukrainian’s grasp.

The freak goal stunned the Santiago Bernabeu into silence.

TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist slammed Lunin, saying: “I ain’t having the goalkeeper.”

Meanwhile, fans commented: “He should NEVER be allowed to get beaten from there.”

Another added: “That was a horrible mistake.”

However, the Treble winners joy was short-lived as Real Madrid hit back with two quick goals to make it 2-1 in the 12th and 14th minute.

Eduardo Camavinga’s long-range shot took a deflection and flew into the back of the net to equalise.

Lunin is playing ahead of on loan Chelsea star Kepa Arrizzabalaga.

Both are in contention as No1 Thibaut Courtois remains out injured.

The Belgian international needs surgery on his knee after already rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament earlier this season.
