Wayne Rooney looks sheepish as Man Utd legend reveals his worst ever tweets leaving Rio Ferdinand in shock
WAYNE ROONEY was left red faced after he and Rio Ferdinand went through some of his old tweets.
The two Manchester United icons were appearing together on TNT Sports coverage of the Red Devil’s clash with Everton, the club where Rooney had started and finished his Premier League career.

But ahead of the game, the former team-mates shared a cab, where Ferdinand asked Rooney about some of his old posts on social media.
Ferdinand kicked it off by saying: “What were you thinking when you sent this tweet? Do you remember it?”
After producing a grin when it was brought up, Rooney said: “I don’t know. I remember doing it and sending it but I didn’t have a clue whether it would just go to you if everyone could see it.
“I think you were the first on Twitter and I remember you kept saying about it so I thought I’d try it and (laughing) I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. Sent a few mad ones.”
Ferdinand asked: “To who?”
Rooney then said: “I tweeted ‘Mr Bean funny’. I tweeted about Whitney Houston when she passed away.
“I tweeted ‘I want to run to you’. It’s emotional, I used to love Whitney Houston and I was gutted.”
Ferdinand said: “I can just picture you now thinking ‘What can I do to console her? Yeah tweet, tweets going to be about right’.”

Fans also seemed to love the conversation, with one saying: “I’m actually in tears.”
A second said: “Wayne’s tweets are iconic. You’d miss the days of footballers managing their own Twitter.”
A third said: “Love the bloke like my uncle.”
Another paid homage by quoting one of Rooney’s old tweets, commenting: “Hi Rio do you want picking up in the morning pal…”
Rooney previously appeared on BBC’s coverage for Man Utd’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest.
He has stepped into punditry after a disastrous spell as manager of Birmingham.

Rooney has been linked with a sensational career switch into boxing, but has insisted he wants to get back into management.
On TNT’s coverage cameras picked up Everton stalwart Seamus Coleman appearing to not realise he was shaking hands with Rooney in the Old Trafford tunnel.
