Man Utd fans mourn the loss of proud 10-year record after loss to City as fans say ‘Ten Hag’s done it again’

MANCHESTER UNITED saw a 10-YEAR record come to an end in their 3-1 defeat to rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

Marcus Rashford had given Erik ten Hag‘s men a shock first-half lead with a sensational long-range strike.

But the Premier League champions eventually wore the visitors down as Phil Foden levelled before the hour mark.

Foden then added another with 10 minutes remaining to complete the turnaround, before Erling Haaland put the game to bed in stoppage time.

And the manner of the victory was something Man Utd have not experienced for a decade.

Heading into the match, the Red Devils had not lost a Premier League game when leading at half-time since Leicester beat them 5-3 in 2014 under Louis van Gaal.

In that time they had won 123 and drawn 20 of 143 games.

But that long-standing record has now been ended after Man City fought back from a first-half deficit to claim all three points.

And many Man Utd fans have been left distraught by the landmark defeat.

One said: “Ten Hag’s done it again.”

While another added: “Breaking records for all the wrong reasons.”

A third responded: “Well ETH has been doing a great job this season breaking all the unwanted records. Let’s see what he has is store for us next week .”

And a fourth said: “This was one record I never wanted to be ruined .”

Meanwhile, that was not the only record broken in Sunday’s Manchester derby.

Man City midfielder Rodri surpassed Chelsea legend Ricardo Carvalho as he is now unbeaten in his last 59 games for Pep Guardiola’s side – eclipsing the ex-Blues defender’s 58-match streak from November 2006 to February 2008.

Rodri has missed just three Premier League games this season – all of which Man City have lost.

There were also a number of damning stats from the game, including Man City having more shots than Man Utd managed possession – 27 compared to 26 per cent.

Man Utd also had just three shots in the match, their second-fewest in the Premier League since Opta records began in 2003 – their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in April 2022 their only lower total when they had two shots.

By contrast, match-winner Foden managed NINE shots in the game.
