Marquinhos, 20, spent the first half of the season out on loan at Ligue 1 side Nantes.

He made seven appearances for the club in the league but failed to score or assist.

In January, Marquinhos returned to Arsenal only to be loaned out again, this time back to Brazil.

Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Fluminense could buy the winger in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that the Gunners have inserted a 50 per cent sell-on clause should that happen.

This means that the club would get half of any potential sale of the youngster in the future.

Arsenal fans have since praised the club’s forward-thinking when it comes to the player’s future.

One posted: “We finally starting to act serious.”
