Highest paid cyclists in Pro Cycling: From two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogcar to Danish icon Jonas Vingegaard

And as a result, the Danish superstar took home approximately £429,000 in prize money.

But to put things in perspective, Slovenian sensation Tadej Pogacar has won cycled to victory in TWO Tour de France competitions, so he is not short of cash either.

Furthermore, Pogacar has won several major Classics including the Tour of Flanders, Liege-Bastogne-Liege and II Lombardia.

Since Tadej Pogacar made his professional debut in 2019, the Slovenian has taken over the cycling industry by storm.

Who are the notable missing names from this list?

Welsh legend Geraint Thomas astonishingly didn’t make the list for 2024 despite three of his Ineos Grenadiers compatriots appearing on the leaderboard.

Thomas did not participate in the 2023 Tour de France due to an “extreme” lack of time trialling on the route.

But the Welshman is no stranger to the course, having won the iconic French ride in 2018.

FOUR-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome reportedly earned £4.7million in 2022 which would have placed him second on the list.

However, the cycling vetran has been on out of the winner’s circle for almost half a decade.

The total prize money for Giro d’Italia is around £1.2million and the winner of the event gets to take home £227,000.

But the cycling event which leaves winners with the most money is the Tour de France.

It has a grand total of around £1.9million in the pot and the person who lifts the title has their bank balance hit with a £429,000 injection.
