He has helped the Dutch giants win all 17 of their Eredivisie matches, with PSV 12 points clear at the top of the league.
The right-back was asked about the future and he revealed he wants to return to playing at the highest level.
Dest told VI: “I think Barcelona, PSV and I have something to say about that. And right now it’s too early to talk about that. Every player has his goals and every player wants to play at the top, that also applies to me.
“In the long term I would like to return to the level where I came from. But a season like this, I just have to enjoy it. So I have my full focus at PSV at the moment. And at the end of the season we will look further. Maybe I’ll stay, maybe I’ll go.”
However Dest ruled out a return to Barcelona, saying it is impossible for him to play for the LaLiga outfit while Xavi is in charge.
He added: “Only if the situation changes there. Xavi is still there now. So at the moment no, that will be too difficult.”
Pressure is growing on Barcelona boss Xavi after losing pace with league leaders Girona and Real Madrid – Barca are fourth and eight points off the top.
Dest previously attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, with the Red Devils still said to be targeting a right-back.
