INDIA lost their final six wickets for 0 runs in their first innings against South Africa on Wednesday.

A bonkers opening day of the Second Test in Cape Town saw the hosts bat twice as their opponents set an unwanted world record.

After skittling South Africa for 55, India collapsed from 153-4 to 153 all out in the space of 11 balls.

It is the first time in Test history a team has lost six wickets without scoring a single run.

Lungi Ngidi took three wickets in the 34th over to kickstart the tourists’ devastating collapse.

Six of the Indian batters fell for a duck, with Virat Kohli top scoring with 46 before edging to second slip off Kagiso Rabada.

South Africa were subsequently put into bat for a second time at Newlands Cricket Ground.

Across both first innings, the two teams lasted just 349 balls or 58.1 overs, the second-fewest ever.

Reacting to India’s collapse on social media, one fan wrote: “More like village cricket.”

Meanwhile, another simply added: “Test cricket…”

South Africa were able to reach stumps at 62-3 on day one to trail India by 36 runs.

The hosts had previously won the First Test of the two-match series by an innings and 32 runs last week.
