ROY KEANE was left squirming after Rory McIlroy confronted him over the time he snubbed giving him an autograph when the golfer was just a boy.
McIlroy was appearing on Sky Sports’ Stick To Football podcast which features Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Jill Scott.

And early in the podcast, Rory opened up about the time he was turned down for an autograph by Keane.
The four time major champion was introduced by Neville as a “massive Manchester United fan” and asked who his hero was growing up.
With Keane sat at the table, there was an awkward moment as McIlroy confirmed it was David Beckham – much to the hilarity of his fellow guests.
Neville asked if that was because of the golfer’s infamous meeting with Keane at a hotel in Nothern Ireland, which McIlroy opened up on.
As Neville teed McIlroy up for the segment, Keane joked: “I’m getting defensive so I’m just gonna fold my arms.”
McIlroy explained the encounter, saying: “So I was down at a hotel and the Irish team were staying and it was a training camp I think.
“So I saw one of my Man United heroes in the lobby, Roy Keane and I went over and asked him for an autograph. He looked up at me and he goes ‘Not today kid.’ And I was like okay…”
Keane then said: “I mean, was that true?”

To which McIlroy responded: “It was true!”
McIlroy confimed to Ian Wright that he was only 12 at the time of Keane’s snub.
McIlroy continued to Keane: “I know you had your spats in the Irish team so I don’t know if you were just in a bad mindset or, I don’t know what was happening.”
Keane said: “The only thing I remember about that hotel was that there was always like kids around annoying the players and you’d think ‘there’s another one!’”
McIlroy said that while the moment crushed him at the time when he was a kid, he has since been in a situation where he has had to refuse autographs since becoming a golf star.
He said: “You try your best, but you can’t please everyone.”
