‘180 machine’ Luke Humphries wins SECOND trophy leaving fans absolutely baffled as World Darts record is broken

LUKE HUMPHRIES has left Ally Pally with TWO trophies after his efforts at the World Darts Championships this year.

The world number one didn’t just win the World Championship Sid Waddell Trophy, but he also picked up the Ballon d’Art.

But he also managed to hit the most 180s of anyone in the competition with fans labelling him a “180 machine”.

The superb feat meant he got his hands on a golden trophy as a result which was dished out by the tournament sponsor Paddy Power.

The humorously named Ballon d’Art – which gets it’s name from football’s Ballon d’Or – was handed to Humphries after his world championship final win.

The 28-year-old managed to hit a 180 an impressive 73 times throughout the tournament with a stunning 23 of those coming in the final alone.

Fans couldn’t help but laugh at the huge golden trophy that was shaped like three giant darts.

Some took to social media to joke about the comical size and look of the award.

One wrote: “He’s gonna need a bigger mantelpiece.”

A second added: “Genuinely laughed out loud at the Ballon d’Art trophy. Ridiculous.”

While a third wrote: “Ballon d’Art is so un-serious – I love it!”

Humphries’ impressive aim didn’t just land him the trophy, but also helped contribute to a record-breaking World Championships.

This year’s tournament saw more 180s hit than ever before with a total of 914 treble 20s hitting the cork.

The new record smashed last year’s tally of 902 and saw an incredible £914,000 donated to Prostate Cancer UK by Paddy Power as a result.
